The 2008 front line fleet includes 7 district chief
SUV's, or Pickups 49 engines, 15 aerial ladder trucks, 4 aerial
platform trucks, 7 brush trucks,
4
mobile air compressors, 1 heavy rescue, 4 hazardous
material trucks, 14 light rescue units 6 airport
crash vehicles, up to 32 advance life support
ambulances, 4 EMS supervisors and a variety of
administrative vehicles and support equipment.
After 20 years of "lime
yellow" fire trucks SAFD has returned to traditional fire
engine red. You
may notice the station number plates on some apparatus do not match the
fire station we have it listed at.
The number plates are magnetic and vehicle reassignments are
common.
The latest generation of Pierce apparatus have the
station numbers painted on the vehicles. This
indicates there may be less rotation in the fleet throughout
the apparatus lifecycle.
